Experience Death in This New Trailer

Death lives in this new Darksiders II trailer, as the narrator examines Death’s existents.

I’m very excited for Darksiders II and the ability to play as Death in this game. I have to admit though that I haven’t beaten Darksiders yet and should be my next game to start.

Midweek Madness: From Dust- 66% off on Steam

Occasionally, I like to post the Midweek Madness games that are offered on Steam, and this game was one that I thought I’d point out. From Dust is 66% off until Thursday afternoon, putting the game at $4.99.

Although Ubisoft has seen some backlash from consumers for a bad PC port and DRM that was promised not to be there, From Dust is a “Populous” like game that gives you the ability to shape the land and grow vegetation. For $5, From Dust is a game you should definitely check out.

Skyrim Beta Now Available on Steam

In a previous post, I stated how Bethesda would be releasing a new update to Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for all three platforms, but that there would be a Beta test that you could opt into, and now that beta is up.

If you’re a PC gamer, and you have Skyrim, all you need to do is log in and select that you would like to participate in the “Skyrim Beta.” There is a numerous amount of tweaks to the game itself, as well as a ton of quest fixes. Below you can check out the step by step guideline on how to get the beta.

Leave comments below and let us know how it goes. I’m mostly going to be checking out this beta myself. All we have to hope for now is there is no backwards flying dragons for the PC. There is also a warning on Bethesda’s blog letting you know you should back up your save file, just in case something is to happen to it.

Skyrim Creation Kit Coming, Along With Some Updates

According to Bethesda’s official blog, They are very close to releasing the creation kit and Steam Workshop for the PC community, as Bethesda is working with Steam and the modding community to do some final test, and we are expecting to see it released by the end of the month.

As for an update, Skyrim version 1.4 is planning on coming to all three platforms (PC, Xbox 360, and PS3) and will “include fixes and optimizations for the most common issues people have been reporting.”

Bethesda hopes to roll this update out to the PC first and will be as an optional Beta test that you can opt in and out of. You can check out some of the bug changes below, or click the link to head straight to Bethesda’s blog the full list of fixes.

Kid Icarus: Uprising Trailer

Oh man, a new Kid Icarus: Uprising trailer! I loved playing Kid Icarus on the NES and when he was brought back in the Super Smash games, I was so excited. Now we have Kid Icarus: Uprising, and one of the main reasons I bought a 3DS. According to Wikipedia, it looks like Uprising will be out March 23rd, so that’s something to look forward to. Feast your eyes on this awesome Kid Icarus trailer above.

Update:

I just saw on Joystiq that if you pre-order Kid Icarus: Uprising, you will receive a copy of the original NES title for your 3DS from certain retailers.

SOPA and PIPA Blackout Today

Today is the day that websites like Reddit and Wikipedia will be blacking out their pages in protest against SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect IP Act). By now, I’m sure most of you know what SOPA is and what kind of damage it could do to rouge sites and the ability the government could have in terms of shutting down certain websites for content that may be seen in a company’s eyes as copyright.

All though there are a lot of websites and companies that have pulled out of standing behind SOPA, there has been millions of dollars put in by lobbyists to see this bill through. So if your beloved site goes down today, don’t worry it will be back late tonight/ tomorrow. I know I was very vague about this, but I’m off to work and didn’t have much time, but if you want to find out more you can head here.

Runner 2: Gaijin Games Answer Questions

Gaijin Games has brought us the amazing universe of Bit.Trip, and if you’ve ever played any of the Bit.Trip games, then I’m sure you’ve fallen in love with them, much like the rest of the community behind Gaijin and their series. One of the most popular games out of the series was Bit.Trip.Runner, and if you haven’t heard by now Gaijin is making Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien.

In this video below you can see the team behind the Bit.Trip Universe answering questions about their newest installment Runner 2, and also see little slivers of footage in the background most of the time.

Runner 2 doesn’t seem to have a set date right now, but it looks like it will be coming to Xbox live, as well as the Playstation 3 sometime soon. Unfortunately, if you have only a Nintendo Wii, it looks like you may be out of luck, but if you’re thinking about getting a Wii U when it launches sometime this summer, then cross your fingers as Gaijin has their hands on a Wii U and thinks this game could very well make an appearance. A version for the PC hasn’t been announced yet, but looks to have a good chance.

I’m very excited to see what’s in store for Runner 2 and what Gaijin has to offer in the future. So up to this date, what’s your favorite Bit.Trip game?

Dustforce coming to Steam January 17th

If there are three things that I get really excited for nowadays, they are indie games, 2D side Scrollers with today’s graphics, and amazing soundtracks. Dustforce looks to be the perfect storm of everything that is on my list.

Dustforce looks like an old Ninja Gaiden Nintendo game, but this janitor like character knows what’s up. Using a broom and vacuum cleaner as a weapon, the actions and combos that this character performs and the gameplay shown in this trailer sure get me excited for yet again, another Indie game.

Dustforce is created by indie studio Hitbox Team and is set to release on Steam January 17th on the PC for $9.99, with a Mac version to follow shortly after. Indie games have been a high contender for me the past few years and Dustforce looks to be no different.
